I am 22 years old and an aspiring web developer located in the city of Leicester, UK. Foremost I see myself as a programmer, specialising in web application development using PHP and recently making use of the Zend and Symfony frameworks. However, I also enjoy being creative and designing visually appealing and usable websites that conform to current web standards.
I currently attend De Montfort University and will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science on 16th July 2008. I am seeking full-time employment within a web development
role that is commutable from Leicester city centre.
Some samples of my work can be seen below, and please feel free to get in touch.
Noginn.com is my online presence where I gather my thoughts on web design, usability and programming. I designed the logo and created a custom theme for the Wordpress blog software.
In my spare time I am creating a restaurant/takeaway directory, which along with standard listing details will also display the restaurant’s menu. I aim to make use of available government data such as food hygiene reports to help visitors make a better-informed choice. I am developing the website using PHP and the Zend framework.
For my University final year project I chose to develop a hosted e-commerce platform to enable sellers to quickly and easily setup an online presence with little technical knowledge. I used this as an opportunity to further my knowledge of PHP web application frameworks and therefore used the Symfony framework for rapid application development.
As part of my degree I developed a web application to retrieve and display messages sent via SMS. This was achieved with the Orange M2M service and it’s API. I wanted to use this project as another opportunity to further my knowledge of PHP web application frameworks and therefore used the Zend framework. During the development I also created a component for the framework to interface with the Google Chart API.
Since the inception of the Home Inspector profession the Home Inspector forum has been the central resource for all Home Inspectors and Domestic Energy Assessors, with over 11,000 members to date. I created the identity for the forum and also developed a customised phpBB installation to handle recurring subscription based membership by interfacing with the PayPal API. I continue to be involved with the technical up-keep of the forum, including managing the server.
As part of the Home Inspector Forum network I developed a web application to enable the members to create a single page information website to advertise their business services.
I created this static website for a client, with some minor use of PHP to produce some interaction such as a contact form.
I created this simple website to practice my design and XHTML/CSS skills and to use as an example of my work.
